I think it was a Mercury Comet, but correct me if I'm wrong.

66 Chevy Caprice, first year of the caprice, the top is the big giveaway. Impalas had the fastback or more flowing top while the new Caprice had a unique top with the more notched look. The Caprice was also the Top Dog on the sheet. The Impala was now midline and the biscayne was the entry level. The Bel Air name was finally dropped.
